Moniker is a screen printing shop drawn from a vision beyond that of profit or single-stream service. Created instead with the intent of recognizing and supporting the communities of artists and creative individuals growing in Montréal and reaching beyond the island, it is structured to be open to input and output at all levels of production – an open-source organization, of sorts.

With the aim of encouraging a greater diversity of design and product, and of the development of the community’s talents, Moniker encourages the participation of clients throughout the screen printing process. Moniker is engineered towards flexible and customizable arrangements with designers, openness to new materials and techniques, the foundation and growth of a pool of artistic talents. In the future Moniker is looking to offer printmaking workshops for members of the community and school groups, and the ongoing restructuring of services offered.

Our shared goal is the large-scale, co-operative growth of a participatory community of artists. Whether you’re an artist hoping to put some new works to fabric, or an established designer with a large-scale order, together we can create the high-quality, professional products that you’ve envisioned – all the while developing and strengthening the skills, old and new, of everyone involved.

Through exhibitions Moniker aims to support artistic practices that offer innovative approaches to the creative processes and propose fresh links between many disciplines. We wish to reveal the multifaceted individuals operating in Montréal as small businesses, organizations and various artistic practices, and create associations between both participants and viewers.

Moniker inspires the creative processes.
